Basketball coach yells at her player to fire her up, a breakdown

that's gone viral. This is the full

story of the moment and the game

the ball. She's gonna try and drive the

lane, get a foul or get a bucket. She

says, "No travel." She's like, "What?

Damn." All right, my bad. Then a little

bit after that, they're up the court

again. Maryland is losing by six. We're

in the third quarter. Passing the ball

around. She's on the on the far side

there just watching. Hey, stay spread.

Stay spread. I want the ball. Gets the

ball. Here we go. Drives down the

middle, makes a move, misses, and okay,

they get the foul. Boom. So she draws

the foul that time. Doesn't make the

shot. Steps up to the line. Takes the

ball. Big deep breath.

Nice and easy. And misses it. That's not

great. Then gets the next one. Sinks it.

Okay, we're good. Now she gets back on

defense. She's following the ball, but

it's a travel miss free throw. There she

is up top. Highlight her in red cuz

that's cool. Ball gets by her and then

she's lost. Who's she guarding? Where'd

her girl go? Can't find her. Where'd you

go? Can't find her. Where'd you go?

Where'd you go? Where'd you go? And it

leads to an open look and she's just

scrambling. Luckily, they miss, but you

can see she gets a little lost. They're

a little distracted. Now back on offense

again. She's down low. She gets the

ball, goes up, doesn't make it, gets the

foul again. You kind of want to make

them and get the foul. I don't know.

Just playing for the foul. Misses the

first one. Misses the second one. Tough

stretch. Coach is watching thinking,

"Okay, this is kind of tough. We're

We're kind of getting lost on defense.

We're missing our free throws. We're not

making our layups. We traveled earlier.

She's getting run around here. Just all

over the place. Okay, now she got a

switch and she's uh Where's the ball?

Okay, where are you? Uh and watch it.

Okay, we got it. They steal it. She runs

down. Give me the ball. Give me the

ball. Give me the ball. Can't corral it.

Tries to go up again. Doesn't make it.

Doesn't get fouled. Gets the rebound.

Jump ball. She's on the ground. And at

that point, her teammates help her up.

But then coach says, "I'm going to help

you off this court. Let's take Let's

give you a breather. come chat with me

for a second. And while the game is

going on, while the ball is being

inbounded, we've get the conversation

that everyone has seen. There she is.

The play is happening. And she's just

getting talked to on the sideline. And

there's a little bit at the beginning

that wasn't part of the viral clip where

it starts with this. And you've got to

make A DECISION RIGHT NOW FOR THIS TEAM.

And that is my something part of you.

It's who you are. I need you TO LOCK IN.

STOP being distracted.

Right. I believe in you, but you've got

to want this the most. This isn't my

story. All right. All right. Break. And

then that happened while they were

talking. They let it go. One possession,

two possessions, three possessions.

She's right back in. It was quick. Just

needed a pump up speech. back on the

floor now and she's ready to go. She's

focused. She's realigned. She's open.

She's open. She says, "No, not yet. Wait

for it." She gets the ball. She drives

up. Uses the board in. Instant returns

on the pump up speech. Then she's locked

in on defense. She's all over the ball.

Can't fake me out. She's going to tangle

her up. Oh yeah. Runs right into the

double jump ball. COACH LOVES YEAH. LOOK

AT HER. THANKS, COACH. Needed that,

coach. Love you, coach. Bam. That's what

you do. And then gets the ball up again.

Makes another one. Back on defense.

We're going to get a steal here. She's

open. Corrals it. Drives, stutters up,

and one. Coach loves IT. LOOK AT THAT.

SHE'S FIRED UP. Coach is fired up for

her. That's coaching. That's what it's

all about. Good pass. Picking up her

teammates as well. The whole bench has

got energy now. Coach is absolutely

loving it. They're playing hard. They're

fighting back. They're grabbing

rebounds. They're fighting for loose

balls. They get another jump ball. Coach

is going crazy on the sidelines, giving

her team some energy and some fire. Look

at this. She goes, "Oh, yeah. THAT'S HOW

YOU PLAY, GIRLS. THAT'S HOW YOU PLAY,

GIRLS. GREAT JOB.

GREAT JOB. I love seeing you go down and

get it. THAT'S A GREAT [ __ ] JOB.

YEAH, THAT'S HOW you battle. Just a

little coaching. That's all that was

needed. They asked both player and coach

about it in the post game and they had

great things to say. The both of them.

>> Uh the best of the best, elite of the

elite want to be coached hard.

>> I've told her this before and I'll keep

on telling her this until forever. I I

love to be coached hard and that's what

she does with me every single day. you

know, I kind of wanted to implore just

how much belief I had in her. Um, and

just kind of challenge her. I know what

a winner and competitor she is. And just

challenge her. Do you want the moment?

>> Coach understands I'm a competitor at

heart.

>> I knew it was like give give it a minute

and get her back in and and um you saw

she she went out, she got a bucket, she

got a steal, and never looked back.

Really what that was was a regroup

moment for myself and her telling me she

believed in me because sometimes that's

really all you need to hear.
