Umpire calls timeout then acts like he didn't call timeout, a breakdown
What Happened
The game is tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 8th inning as the Miami Marlins try to hold onto their lead and secure a win. New York Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge steps up to the plate, facing a full count. As Judge prepares to swing, the home plate umpire unexpectedly calls timeout. However, the umpire then acts as if he never made the timeout call, allowing the pitch to be thrown. The Marlins' catcher realizes the situation and pleads with the umpire, saying "Hey, wait, you called time!" The umpire puts his hands up, signaling time, but then contradicts himself, saying "No, no time." This confuses everyone on the field, and the Marlins' manager comes out to argue the call. The home plate umpire appears unsure of what happened, saying he'll "go talk to the other umps" to figure it out. He acknowledges that Judge got to the batter's box late, which is why the catcher requested time, but the umpire insists he never actually called time. The Marlins' manager continues to argue vehemently, insisting the umpire did call time and that the pitch should not have been allowed. The crew chief umpire tries to defuse the situation, saying "there's no controversy here." However, the home plate umpire remains adamant that he did not call time, even as the Marlins' catcher tells him directly "Yes, you did call time." The back-and-forth escalates, with both the manager and catcher being ejected for arguing the call. In the heated exchange, the Marlins' catcher looks the umpire in the eye and says, "Don't Gaslight me, don't make me go crazy." The umpire finally admits that yes, he did call time, but insists it doesn't matter since the pitch was ruled a ball. The managers continue arguing, with the Marlins' skipper yelling, "What is he supposed to do?" as the umpires struggle to reconcile the conflicting calls. Ultimately, the bizarre sequence of events leaves both teams and the crowd thoroughly perplexed, as the umpires struggle to find a resolution and get the game back on track.

breakdown the count is going to go to
3-0 not a good start but he fights back
at the college strike 3-1 gets the foul
ball now it's a full count and the
Batters takes his time and he steps in
now he's got to be in the Box looking at
the pitcher and ready to go by the Eight
Second Mark that doesn't happen the
catcher realizes it and he's like hey
wait because the pitcher
he needs those eight seconds to get
ready to throw the pitch and the Pitcher
doesn't have those eight seconds so now
he's behind and the catcher's like look
look hey hold up hey step off dude step
off the UMP says time he throws the
pitch anyway says time hold on what what
happened he said well
I told we all called time and the UMP
behind the plate is like hold on okay
hold on he's got the Marlins coach
coming out saying what's going on here
what's the call what the [ __ ] is
happening and the um says hey hey I'll
go talk to all the other umps we'll
figure this out don't worry so look I
slow it down he says hey he got to the
Box late how come you didn't notice that
blue he says what's going on and he says
Hey step off dude and the UMP puts his
hand up says time and then he says no no
time time and then the pitch is thrown
anyway because the pitcher must just be
in the zone and then the UMP doesn't
call ball he says hold up and puts both
hands up from the opposite angle hey
step off time uh both hands up now that
right there usually is the signal for
Time by an Umpire like nah and the
batter's looking at him and then he's
gonna go talk to his other arms he's
like did I miss a Time request something
uh I don't know a mad coach mad coaching
waiting and it's a ball now that's the
crew chief and he's like there's nothing
no controversy here but the guy behind
home plate he knows something's up maybe
he messed up so he's like not except
it's a ball he's not accepting that he's
talking to the other arms like did you
guys see me say time what's going on
here and he goes it's a ball it's a ball
no matter what
huh and they're like yeah well uh you
didn't call time
you know it's fine and he can't call
time so then this song is like all right
yeah okay go to First
so you can't call time and then they're
just real mad on you you called timeout
I called time so you called time
you can't call time
you're out and he gets ejected right
there by Home Plate umpire for arguing a
very light ejection just you're out
and he's like yes I can I can take a
mound visit I could call time he can't
call time and now they're both going to
argue with both umpires at the same time
and they have a synchronized motion but
this is what the catcher's saying uh
yeah I called time and then he did and
that must say you can't call time
because they're saying a lot and he says
yes I can I can take a mound visit neum
says yeah but you have to call time to
do that he says I called time it doesn't
matter yes it does you're gone double
ejected both thumps
what
huh you called time out no I didn't what
yes you did you put your hands up we all
saw you put your hands up then what the
[ __ ] is he supposed to do what is he
supposed to do oh that's [ __ ] what
is he supposed to do what is he supposed
to run yeah toss me I'll toss you cause
he called time we don't have to award it
he called it
he called it he called it what's he
supposed to do the pitch was a ball he
called it the pitch was a ball
not allowed to call time
so he can just do whatever the [ __ ] he
wants
to him
he would have got time you said time out
catcher's getting honest with him now
like looking in his eyes like hey don't
wrong me here don't don't Gaslight me
don't make me go crazy with his eyes
what
I know and then I called time out and
you said time you called time no I never
said it don't put words in my mouth
he called time
I know this is what I'm saying
then he stood he stood up because you
called time
you called time I know I did oh he
admitted it ah look at him I mean the
managers won A Few Good Men on them made
him admit it right in front of everybody
goddamn right I did ah look look at them
they're pointing them out they're like
look look did you just hear that so he
stood up and now this umpire the crew
chief has got double fingers out like
okay I gotta backtrack because my guy
just outed himself and I was trying to
protect him here he's like um yeah it
doesn't matter none of that oh my
goodness look at that reaction just oh
oh my brain I can't take this
he called time out he did call time he's
telling you he called time out
yes he called it but did you call it
first
I called it what does it matter it's
first base it's a ball what and then
that's kind of it I give up oh my God I
give up I mean
[ __ ] terrible
oh taste can't believe it they just feel
like they're being lied to you know I
love rookie managers when they get in
their first arguments they're like what
and then these fans they bought their
tickets from sea geek for sure maybe
don't know but you can and you should
use code John Boy you get 20 off your
first purchase that was kind of wild one
I mean home plate umpire knows he called
time he also missed the pitch clock
violation and then you know you called
Thai man you know you called time you
kind of admitted at the end there
according to their reactions and
this didn't affect the game at all
