Ump thinks manager wants to be ejected so he ejects him, a breakdown
What Happened
Salvador Perez of the Kansas City Royals steps to the plate with two runners on and no outs. He hits a ball that appears to stay in the park, but the umpire, Bill Welke, rules it a home run. Royals manager Mike Matheny comes out to discuss the call with Welke, as the replay shows the ball hit a gap in the outfield wall, leading Matheny to question the ruling. Welke stands by the home run call, and Matheny continues to argue, asking Welke to "come here" and "talk." It's unclear exactly what is being said, but Matheny seems to be explaining why he believes the call is incorrect. Welke appears unmoved, and Matheny covers his mouth, likely continuing to plead his case. When the camera cuts back, the situation has escalated. Welke says to Matheny, "What do you want me to do?" Matheny responds, "I don't want to get run for this [expletive]." However, Welke misinterprets this and thinks Matheny is saying he wants to be ejected, so Welke ejects him from the game. Matheny is shocked, exclaiming, "I said I don't want to get run for this [expletive]! I said I don't want to get run for this [expletive], Bill! What the [expletive] is going on?" Welke realizes his mistake and tries to apologize, but Matheny is exasperated, explaining that he never wanted to be ejected and is unsure why Welke thought he did. The camera then shows Matheny walking back to the dugout, his face clearly expressing his frustration with the situation. He'll have to explain the bizarre turn of events to his coaching staff, who are likely equally perplexed by the umpire's misinterpretation and Matheny's unexpected ejection. The score and inning are not specified, but the context suggests this is a close, important game, and the umpire's mistake has significant consequences for the Royals and their manager. This bizarre miscommunication and ejection will surely be a topic of discussion and debate among fans and analysts in the aftermath of the game.

Click timestamps to jump to that momentI was cleaning up all my files from the
regular season and I came across this
breakdown that I started in August I
remember starting it during the
Blitzball battle I remember Chris Rose
and Evan Trev and Moylan trying to help
me read the lips of core and it was
tough and I never quite could figure it
out so I kind of just pushed it to the
back burner I kept it around didn't
delete the stuff but never posted it now
I'm cleaning up on my files and I'm like
let me just watch it again boom voila
everything kind of clicked it's
hilarious so here we go this is from way
earlier in the season but it's funny
Salvador Perez is up with two on and no
outs and hits whatever that is looks
like it stayed in the park but they
ruled it a home run so he's rounding the
bases he's thanking God he's saying what
up to his teammates but it hit this
really weird part of the stadium
that they must go over in the ground
rules because look at it there's a gap
of wall the line on the wall and the
line and the actual pole
there's a little Gap and it hits that
cushion right in the Gap so it's got to
be part of the ground rules they have to
know what that means from this angle it
looks like what why isn't the yellow
line just down the yellow line why is
there a Gap but from the other angle I'm
sure it lines up perfectly and the
ground rules must say that that is a
home run so umpire bill welkey says call
stands it's a home run Corbell
hey I want to talk Bill come here come
here can we bail want to talk bill
come on can we talk can we talk can we
talk and then I don't know
what's being said here
it hits that thing behind the pole blah
blah blah well I think and I think right
now he's saying I told you this in the
ground rules or something like that
I told you
I told you that I don't know I really
don't know this part was confusing
chorus covering his mouth we don't have
a front angle but he's just saying here
and core is just like what that's weird
I got to accept that cuts to Perez and
the dug out when we cut back it gets
hilarious so
welkies like
at this point he's like what do you want
me to do so what he says is
and it's really slight he says what do
you want me to do at this point you want
me to run you he says no I don't want to
get run for this [ __ ] and he says okay
you got it you're out of here if you're
really and the catcher's reaction is
great you're like what I said I don't
want to get run for this [ __ ] now if
you're like really new to baseball
sometimes managers to fire up their team
will tell the Umpire or they'll just
argue and argue until they get run and
the Umpire will be like all right dude
you're just trying to get thrown out to
fire up your team fine I'll throw you
out sometimes managers say what are you
doing you want me to throw you out and
oh and then the manager said yeah I do
want you to throw me out and he throws
him out so that's what was happening
here but he misheard him of course said
I don't want to get run for this [ __ ] he
thought he said yes so he's like all
right you got it man I'm doing you a
favor if you're [ __ ] out of here and
now of course like I I said I don't want
to [ __ ] get run for this
I said I don't want to get run for this
[ __ ]
Bill what the [ __ ] is going on I was
gonna walk back oh that's crazy Bill I
said I don't want to get run for this
[ __ ] I heard you say you wanted to get
wrong
oh no why would I want to get
I thought that was your plan I don't
know what he says that's why I thought
that's what you wanted he kind of feels
sorry you can see he's like he's like
you I did I said I don't want to get run
he's like I'm sorry he's like oh no
no no no no no no
come on
but why would I want to get wrong I
don't know I mean I don't want to get
run for this [ __ ] that Ball's [ __ ]
weird didn't go our way but I don't want
to get rung for this
I told him I'm not looking to get thrown
out and he threw me out but he told me
to answer maybe core is saying just
because I answered out loud he threw me
out didn't matter what I was saying I
said I don't want to get run for this
but the um saying you should have just
walked away because anything else you
said you were going to get rung for it
well pretty hilarious miscommunication
there and I I thought the word rung I
was reading as review way back when
that's why I couldn't crack it and I
just opened it on the train yesterday
and I saw it and said uh I saw his lips
and said run not review and then it all
was hilarious it made sense and Corey is
going to walk back to his Dugout and
he's gonna have to tell his coaches what
happened and his coaches are like what's
going on and look at him his face he's
just all exasperated and he's like I've
uh
um I asked me if I wanted to get wrong I
said no I don't want to get wrong and
then he rung me
