Tim Anderson bumps into umpire, a breakdown
What Happened
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Chicago White Sox trail the Cleveland Guardians 5-1 at home. White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez leads off the inning with a double, igniting the home crowd. Second baseman Josh Harrison then flies out to right field, but the White Sox have momentum as they look to mount a comeback. Tim Anderson, the star shortstop for the White Sox, steps up to the plate. Earlier in the game, Anderson had a called strike that he vehemently disagreed with. Now, he seems focused on making an impact and getting his team back in the game. The umpire calls a borderline pitch a strike against Anderson, who immediately expresses his frustration. "Oh my God. Oh, that's the fucking second one. Have one of those fucking second at bat too. You need to fucking go. Come on, let's fucking go," Anderson says angrily. The umpire, seemingly unimpressed by Anderson's outburst, ejects him from the game. Anderson confronts the umpire, getting uncomfortably close to his face and asking, "What the fuck did you throw me out for?" The two men nearly bump helmets as the tension escalates. White Sox manager Tony La Russa comes out to defend his player, but the umpire stands firm on the ejection. La Russa later comments, "I think I saw the umpire moving forward quite a bit, which they're taught not to do that. I didn't see any contact that I know." However, the video clearly shows Anderson making slight contact with the umpire's cap, initiating a brief dance as the two men's caps and helmets come together. The crowd erupts in cheers and laughter at the comical confrontation. Following the incident, Anderson is suspended for three games by the league for making contact with the umpire. The White Sox, still trailing by four runs, will have to continue their comeback attempt without their star shortstop. This heated exchange between Anderson and the umpire highlights the intense emotions and high stakes of the game, as the White Sox fight to stay in contention against their division rivals, the Guardians. The video has captured a memorable moment that is sure to be analyzed and discussed by baseball fans.

Click timestamps to jump to that momentWhite Sox are losing five to one in the bottom of the seventh. This one is brought to you by
Seat Geek Code Jamboy for $20 off your first order. And they don't want to be losing because
they're supposed to be a good team, but they're not really a good team. They're going to try and,
you know, force their way back into this game. Opens up with a double for Jimenez. A little
hop, skip, and a jump. And then Harrison takes that 0-1 pitch, sends it into this kid's glove.
He screams, yells, gives his buddy a hug. What a scene that is. And the White Sox got momentum.
Let's do it. Let's do it. Let's do it. Tim Anderson steps to the plate. Now in the third inning,
he had a call go not his way. That up and in pitch was called a strike. He didn't like that.
And that same at bat, Karinczak throws it again and he takes an awful swing because he's got to
protect because it's called a strike and he strikes out. So he's got that on his mind,
but he's trying to overcome it and say, no, let's just,
get some stuff done. There's two outs where it's only a two run game. Now let's get on base,
keep it rolling, keep it moving. Good mood. Good mood. I'm in a good mood. I'm not thinking about
the blown call earlier. Oh my God. Oh, that's the fucking second one. Have one of those fucking
second at bat too. You need to fucking go. Come on, let's fucking go. And this is where it is.
I mean, that's pretty close and it's very odd. He didn't get rung up on it,
but it is the second of the game. I mean, it's over the plate. Is it too high? That box isn't
real. It looks like it's kind of high enough. I don't know. It looks, it's not that bad.
He doesn't like it. Umpire doesn't like that. He doesn't like it. Umpire throws him out and he says,
what the fuck did you throw me out for? What the fuck did you throw me out for? Gets really
uncomfortably close to his face. What the fuck did you throw me out for? The fuck did you throw
me out for? What the fuck? Because you know, it was high.
Blah and blah. And I'm in your face and blah and blah. That's fucking horse shit.
That's terrible. You're terrible. That's terrible. He says, that's twice. Twice you got me on that
same pitch. Made some nice contact. Look at this. Brim to brim. Helmet versus hat. Helmet's always
going to win out. It's just stronger. Whoa. Hey, don't bump me again. No bumping. Toss me out. I
don't give a shit. Larissa kind of has to get ejected because it's
got ejected. Toss me out. I don't give a shit. Okay. You're gone. You're gone. Don't come after
me. You don't care. Tony Larissa said after the game, I think I saw the umpire moving forward
quite a bit, which they're taught not to do that. I didn't see any contact that I know.
So he's just out here telling us he didn't see any contact, but he's old. Maybe he doesn't have
good eyesight, but this old man saw it. Oh, he hit him. He touched.
Him. Look at this. Just a little dance into his forehead. Just a little wiggle wiggle on the hat.
Umpire doesn't know what's going on. The brims are making out a little bit. I like this guy in
the background. He's just got his seat. Maybe he went to see geek use code. John boy got $20
off his first purchase. Clapping. So happy. So happy. Oh yeah. What? Come on. Him and his buddy.
Let's get them.
Let's get them. Oh yeah. What?
What?
Umpire chewing his gum, having fun. Anderson got
ejected and then suspended for three games going brim to brim.
