Stars coach mad about non interference call, a breakdown
What Happened
In a critical Game 1 matchup between the Calgary Flames and the Dallas Stars in the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, tensions are running high. With the game tied 1-1 in the first period, the Flames appear to have scored a crucial goal to take the lead. However, Dallas Stars head coach Rick Bowness is incensed by the officials' decision to allow the goal, believing it should have been disallowed for goaltender interference. As the Flames' forward skates towards the net, he makes contact with Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger, who is knocked to the ice. The goal is still awarded, and Bowness immediately protests the call, gesturing emphatically to the officials. The coach then turns to the replay monitor, pleading with the officials to review the play and overturn the goal. The video review shows the Flames' player making contact with Oettinger outside the crease, but the goaltender is forced into the net as he attempts to avoid the collision. Despite Bowness' vehement arguments, the officials ultimately rule that the goal will stand, much to the coach's disbelief. "What were they looking at? That's unfucking real," Bowness exclaims, his frustration evident. He proceeds to angrily punch the glass, releasing his pent-up emotions as the crowd reacts to the dramatic scene. The camera then pans to a Dallas Stars staff member sitting behind the bench, who remains unfazed by Bowness' outburst. The non-call on the goaltender interference has significant implications for the game, as the Flames' goal ties the score at 1-1. Bowness and the Stars are left to regroup and refocus, determined to overcome the controversial decision and secure the victory. Despite the setback, the Stars rally and eventually win the game, proving Bowness' prediction correct. The heated exchange between the coach and the officials, coupled with the dramatic on-ice action, underscores the intense rivalr y and high stakes of this first-round playoff series between the Flames and the Stars.

right there that's in question a goal
for the flames to tie it up in the first
and the goalie looks at the rep and says
you're gonna allow that really he skated
into me the refs get together and think
maybe we should review this internally
or we just let it go to them and then
the coach says what and he says he said
you should challenge it so they're going
to challenge it from this angle it looks
kind of like interference this has been
happening i think this is like the third
questionable goalie interference in the
post in the playoffs so far
and
yeah i mean you can see from that angle
it kind of looks like the goalie gets
knocked the ground which then leads to
the goal but from all the other angles
you can kind of see that the contact
with the goalie came outside the crease
the goalie makes the save with the right
pad
and then moves his left pad to catch the
edge to cut starts sliding and that's
where the contact comes the skate goes
into the crease right there of the guy
in the flames but he's doing everything
he can to avoid that you can see him hop
skip and jump he puts on the brakes here
to go around and then jumps around and
he never really gets inside the crease
the woman behind the coach is really
excited whoo
