Pitcher throws up while opponent gets ejected, a breakdown
What Happened
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Chicago White Sox pitcher Amir Garrett takes the mound with a big lead. Garrett starts the inning strong, firing a fastball for a strike and then following up with a slider that gets a swinging strike. He mixes in another slider that the batter fouls off, bringing the count to 1-2. Garrett looks sharp as he goes back to the slider, getting another swinging strike for the inning's first out. However, as Garrett turns to walk back to the mound, he suddenly appears unwell. The umpire notices the White Sox dugout chirping at him, so he removes his mask to address them. In the meantime, Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi starts arguing with the umpire, leading to his ejection from the game. As this unfolds, Garrett doubles over on the mound, clearly in distress. White Sox manager Pedro Grifol rushes out to check on his pitcher, realizing Garrett is ill. Garrett attempts to stand up but looks unsteady. A trainer comes out to assist him, and Garrett pushes the trainer away, not wanting him to get too close. Garrett then leans over and vomits on the mound, prompting the trainer and a teammate to bring him towels. The umpire and other players look on, unsure of how to proceed. After composing himself, Garrett is able to leave the mound, and the White Sox bring in a new pitcher to replace him. The game resumes, but the unusual sequence of events - a pitcher vomiting while an opposing player is ejected - has left everyone involved a bit stunned. It's a peculiar moment in an otherwise lopsided contest, one that will surely be remembered by those in attendance.

Click timestamps to jump to that momentAmir Garrett's on the mound to start the
seventh inning he's got a huge lead and
this breakdown is brought to you by my
good friends over at Shady Ray he's
actually going to open up the inning
with a nice fast ball outside fastball
strike one now he's like let's go on
that same line with the slider makes the
pitch doesn't get the call puts it in
his back pocket remembers it for later
love the way the slider felt though so
throws another one swing and Miss right
over it one and two is the count amir's
looking good feeling great as far as we
can tell I mean a couple nice pitches so
far one two back to the slider a lot of
plate things lucky that one got fouled
off or maybe it's by Design and he knew
it was going to get fouled off three
Sliders in a row what are you gonna do
now he's starting to breathe a little
heavier maybe he's not feeling good
maybe something's up we don't know we're
not in his head next pitch
slider for the swing and miss and now he
goes back to the first slider he threw
and he gets the call and now a lot
happens he turns around to walk back to
the mound after the strikeout it was
dirty he's feeling gross about it
umpire turns his head to the Dugout
takes off his mask because the White Sox
are chirping him it says you that's one
all right be cool in a mirror he's gonna
drop down he's not feeling good
meanwhile the UMP he's still talking The
Dugout you
directed at you yeah and amir's not
feeling hot at all not at all and then
when it turns out benintendi he was a
royal last year maybe he's distracting
the Umpire from noticing Amir and Amir
is not feeling good at all and uh Benny
says [ __ ] [ __ ] and you know it
you nobody asked you
yeah
yeah and he tosses him out he doesn't
even realize the pitcher's down on the
mound not feeling well at all
not good
he doesn't care about it at all he just
wants them to get out of the game now
the manager of the White Sox is going to
come out he's going to start arguing
because one of his guys got a jack he's
like wait hold on what's going on out
there wait wait oh
is he hurt is he okay what's going on
out there he gets totally lost in and
he's like what oh oh I don't care
anymore seems like that guy's hurt and I
didn't care to start now Amir thinks he
can get up this is big he's like I don't
I'm good I think he stood up too fast
though guys jogging out and now this guy
comes up that he wants to get in his
face like hey be honest with me how you
feeling I'm a doctor maybe that's what
that guy emir's like uh dude you better
back up kind of pushes him like I
wouldn't get too close to me right now I
was like all right I just thought maybe
you'd want this towel and then the
second guy comes with a towel and then
you can see his right hand again pushing
the guy's belly and he's like dude get
away from me and now if you don't like
looking at throw up I'd I'd say I'd say
stop watching the screen oh [ __ ] one
last attempt there see with his right
arm amir's just he's just dude I don't
want to throw up on you and three times
now he's like don't get close this guy
keeps getting closer well oh yeah so
that was the throw up almost on that
guy's shoes he's like hey why don't you
hold my towel too so now this guy's got
two towels he's like and I shouldn't
look nope nope yeah I do want to look
I'll give in I do want to check this out
is gross he's got a nice tight grip on
his pants I don't know if they'd teach
that in school or guys puke and grab his
pants I was never taught that oh and
another towel gets added to the mix look
this guy comes hey I don't know if you
guys have enough towels but I've got you
this towel and they're like dude we have
so many towels we have three towels
he's got a lot of towels to choose from
if he wants to choose from towels and he
does he chooses the one that the guy who
held his pants up originally had so he
wins the towel off but kind of he gave
it to the other guy and these old men
are like what happened
what's going on
and maybe he threw up we gotta bring the
new picture and they gotta let him know
like all right you're coming in you got
no Runners on one out the mound might
smell like puke just get after it coach
comes out he's like don't look at it
[ __ ] I gotta look at it I gotta take
this in and see what it's all about and
if you go back to the the pitches that
they didn't like the Umpire because one
he said ball the next he said strike
well look at that they were slightly a
ball off and the one closer to the plate
got called a strike now I don't know if
it was still a strike or a ball but it's
nice to know that the pitches were a
ball length difference and if that's hit
the edge of the zone for him that's the
edge of the zone for him so this is the
first time I've ever seen one uh a
pitcher puke on the mound while a guy
gets ejected from the other team it was
a big moment in a in a blowout game in
the seventh inning and the big moment
was brought to you by Shady Rays if you
don't like looking at puke you can put
the Shady Rays on and maybe it turns it
