Intense ending at the Little League World Series, a breakdown
What Happened
In an intense extra-inning showdown at the Little League World Series regional tournament, the teams from New York and Connecticut are tied at 5 runs apiece. The winner will advance to the championship game against New Jersey, while the loser is eliminated. In the bottom of the extra inning, New York turns an impressive inning-ending double play, drawing a passionate reaction from their Staten Island-born coach. The Connecticut leadoff hitter then works a full count against the New York pitcher, fouling off a couple pitches before drawing a walk on a close 3-2 offering. With two outs, Connecticut attempts to bunt the runner over, but the batter is called out on the sacrifice. The confusion continues as the next Connecticut batter, batting 12th in the order, is also instructed to bunt, despite having two strikes - resulting in another out. The top of the Connecticut order then steps up, and the New York coach elects to intentionally walk the batter, loading the bases with two outs. The pressure mounts as the Connecticut hitter steps to the plate in a full-count situation. New York's pitcher appears visibly frustrated, with his coach needing to calm him down and offer encouragement. The pitcher then battles back, getting ahead 0-2 before the Connecticut hitter fouls off a couple of pitches. On a 1-2 count, the pitcher delivers a fastball that the batter rips over the shortstop, driving in the go-ahead run for Connecticut. However, the drama is far from over. In the bottom of the inning, New York's leadoff hitter steps up with the game on the line. The tension is palpable as the pitcher works the count, but the New York batter remains unfazed, driving the ball over the shortstop for a walk-off hit that secures the victory for New York. The players and coaches erupt in celebration, savoring the thrilling finish to this crucial Little League World Series matchup.

championship against New Jersey loser is eliminated the Little League World Series
regional tournaments lots of drama lots of big comebacks lots of extra innings this breakdown
is brought to you by the farmer's dog so I got some questions for you guys as we watch this one
unfold first New York they turn an inning ending double play in extra innings they get the runner
who danced off second this coach is going crazy he's from Staten Island for sure for sure his ball
outside to the leadoff hitter another ball same spot another ball same spot to 3-1
strike that's a strike that strike very delayed very delayed batters like what okay
3-2 now what's this one going to be
3-2
that's the ball inside all right so leadoff runner is on bottom of the seventh inning they're
clapping here we go here we go 0-1 they're trying to bunt him over gets it down okay so we got an
out for a bunt now this is where things get confusing for me this kid's 12th in the batting
order they do a continuous batting order so everyone bats now and they say we want you to
bunt too that would be two outs
or they want him to bunt for a hit right but now with two strikes they still have him bunt
he bunts out let that kid hit the way you why it's two strikes just one out that makes no sense
let him swing see what happens I don't understand that at all now top of the order comes up and
Connecticut says nah nope we're gonna walk you so there's two outs they intentionally walk that
ball aby
so on the catcher side of the
right hand side on to how do you like he gets back you wanna basic how you gonna keep that
down
that's it
and one hitters count oh i love that the kids swung saw his pitch wanted to hit it but now we
got a full count going back to the fastball a little bit outside does the inning end oh a little
excuse me check swing nope i'ma spoil that one last second strikeout don't think so i got my
bat to it wait what was that pitch let's go back it was a fastball outside again three and two
ball four that was close that was close i think i think some literally gums ring bring that guy up
so now the pitcher calls out the coach who's his dad needs some words of encouragement
i guess what's going on how are you it's bases loaded take a deep breath calm down have some fun
do what you do i believe in you do you believe in you first pitch fastball outside again and
strike one okay now four
what's four i don't know what four is it looks very similar i overlaid them i don't know what
it is maybe it's like a four seam fastball and there's regular ones a two seam fastball i don't
know if those pitches are doing anything different but i love the confidence and conviction in which
they're calling one and four so oh and two now four nope don't want it one nope don't want it
three usually change up but i think
that's a slider of sorts one and two but changes speed changes the eye level looks in here's the
sign catch says one up top fastball let's go get him swinging oh it's not high enough it's drilled
over the shortstop and new york is gonna walk off and win a date with new jersey love the game love
the clapping they're excited he's excited everyone's excited double number ones
is that too much strategy for little league baseball that was my big question you know you
