What Happened

In the bottom of the ninth inning, the New York Yankees are trailing by one run against the visiting team. Designated hitter Gary Sanchez steps up to the plate, facing off against relief pitcher Ken Giles. As the pitching coach approaches the mound to speak with Giles, Sanchez watches intently from the batter's box. "Try to get Gary out," the pitching coach tells Giles, who responds dismissively, "Ah, no way dude. I'm pretty locked in." Sanchez, unfazed, steps back in and promptly crushes a game-tying solo home run over the right field wall. "Yep, told you. Didn't matter what you threw," Sanchez says confidently as he rounds the bases. With the score now tied, the Yankees have new life. All-Star outfielder Aaron Judge steps up, looking to drive in the winning run. Judge rips a double into the gap, scoring the speedy Tyler Wade from first base. The Yankee Stadium crowd erupts in celebration as the home team takes the lead. "That's what I'm talking about!" Judge exclaims, pumping his fist. Sanchez, still fired up from his heroic blast, beats his head in excitement, while manager Aaron Boone comes out to congratulate his players. Giles, visibly frustrated after blowing the save, is ejected from the game for arguing with the home plate umpire. "Ah, man. What a bummer," Giles says as he departs. Outfielder Aaron Hicks tells the distraught reliever, "You should really get out of here." As the Yankees celebrate their comeback victory, the camera pans to Giles angrily slamming his glove and cursing in the dugout. "Ah, f*** you, f*** you dude. No, f*** you. Take that back," Giles shouts, his tirade directed at no one in particular. It's a dramatic, roller-coaster finish to this heated division rivalry game between the Yankees and their opponents. The win keeps the Yankees in the thick of the playoff race, while the loss is a tough pill to swallow for the visiting team and their despondent reliever, Ken Giles.
