Curaçao eliminates Canada in the Little League World Series, a breakdown
What Happened
Curaçao and Canada square off in an elimination game at the Little League World Series. In the top of the first inning, Canada threatens early, getting runners on second and third with one out. The Curaçao third baseman, who happens to be the younger brother of George Predović, a standout player in the tournament, makes a nice play to escape the jam. Curaçao then takes control of the game, systematically hitting and running Canada out of Williamsport. The first batter hits a double, driving in a run and the next hitter singles, moving the runner to third. Curaçao continues to string together hits, singles and doubles, efficiently advancing runners and scoring runs. "They just hit and ran," the announcer says, "I don't even know if they had a home run in this game." Curaçao's offense is relentless, as they continue to manufacture runs with smart, aggressive baserunning. "That kid was already on second," the announcer notes, "he's upset he didn't get a home run, he's like 'damn, I guess I'll take that RBI double.'" Curaçao's players are "the fastest team to ever play the game," the announcer remarks, as they easily move from base to base. In the later innings, Curaçao puts the game away, with a series of singles and a comeback grounder to end the contest. The announcer exclaims, "Too easy, too easy. Curaçao doing big things." Jerks and Profile's younger brother is "going crazy" on the Curaçao bench, excited about his team's dominant performance. Curaçao now advances to face Venezuela in the next round of the Little League World Series and the announcer wonders if they can "hit and run Venezuela out of Williamsport" as they did against Canada. The Curaçao squad has proven to be a relentless, efficient offensive machine, using small ball and smart baserunning to overwhelm their opponents.
