What Happened

Coastal Carolina and BYU, both undefeated at 9-0, put on an intense and dramatic display on the football field. In the first half, BYU quarterback Zach Wilson drops the ball and Coastal Carolina's Gunter (#94) aggressively approaches him, saying, "I'm gonna kill you later." This sets the tone for a highly physical matchup. Later, Wilson again drops back to pass and Gunter comes charging after him, eventually bringing him down. On an incomplete pass, the Coastal Carolina coach can be heard yelling, "Hit him! Head 'em up!" This level of intensity continues throughout the game. In the end zone, Wilson's pass is intercepted and a Coastal Carolina defender (#34) begins blocking the BYU players. Gunter then comes in and viciously slams the BYU player's face into the ground, picks him up and smashes the back of his head down. The quarterback's arms are pinned and his face is the first thing to hit the ground, which "sucks." As he tries to get up, Gunter continues the assault, spearing him and slamming his head into the turf. The referees eventually intervene and Gunter defiantly says, "Who else wants some? My coach told me to hit everyone." This sparks a large scuffle on the field, with players and coaches rushing to separate the two teams. Later in the game, Gunter and Wilson continue their physical battle, with Gunter delivering a late hit on Wilson out of bounds. The BYU crowd gathers around Wilson in a protective stance, but Gunter remains undeterred. The two players continue to clash throughout the contest. Ultimately, Gunter causes a fumble for Coastal Carolina and his teammates rally around him, "throning the king" in celebration. The Coastal Carolina fans are electric, high-fiving and embracing the team's intensity and grit. Even Gunter's family joins in the celebration, with his father saying, "I'm not being crazy anymore." It was a classic matchup between the "mullets versus the Mormons," as describes it, with both teams leaving it all on the field in a thrilling and hard-fought battle.
