Clemson comes back to beat Virginia Tech, a breakdown
What Happened
Clemson Tigers right fielder Dylan Brewer steps up to the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning, his team trailing the 25th-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies by one run. With two outs on the board, Brewer works a walk, setting the stage for a dramatic comeback. James Parker, Clemson's three-hole hitter, approaches the batter's box next. He falls behind 0-2 in the count against Virginia Tech's left-handed reliever. But on the next pitch, Parker connects and drives the ball deep into the stands for a three-run, go-ahead home run, giving the Tigers a 5-4 lead. The Clemson dugout erupts in celebration, with players and coaches alike pumping their fists and cheering loudly. In the top of the ninth inning, Clemson brings in their closer to try and seal the victory. After recording the first two outs, the closer faces a 2-0 count against the Hokies' batter. He battles back, getting the count to 2-1 and then delivers a sharp curveball that freezes the Virginia Tech hitter for the game-ending strikeout. Clemson's come-from-behind win over their ranked conference rival caps an exciting late-inning rally. The Tigers, who entered the game with a losing record, showed tremendous poise and fight to overcome the one-run deficit in the eighth. James Parker's clutch three-run homer provided the decisive blow, sparking wild celebrations in the Clemson dugout. "That was a big-time at-bat from James," says Clemson head coach Monte Lee. "He really stepped up when we needed him most. I'm proud of the fight and resilience our guys showed to battle back and get this important win." The victory pulls Clemson's record closer to .500 as they continue their push for a spot in the NCAA Tournament. For Virginia Tech, the loss is a tough pill to swallow, as they let a late lead slip away against their ACC foe. But with the regular season winding down, both teams will look to regroup and finish strong in the final weeks.

he hits that dude in the face and
everyone's like is this ump just
obsessed
with calling hit in the face hit by
pitches because that didn't look like it
hit him either
but he said right away it did and
according to my
uh forensic analysis i think it didn't
hit the glove
hard enough here to make a big sound or
at all
and in live speed there was a big sound
so i think he got it right so now james
parker's up he's 0 4
3 with a strikeout the three-hole hitter
gets the outside fastball strike one
nice 76 mile per hour curveball for
strike two
now he's probably trying to throw that
curveball again way in the dirt to get
him to swing over it again instead he
throws a little lollipop
looper and that guy puts it in the seats
for the three run go ahead home run and
that guy does not make the catch
uncontested basically right in his lap
feels bad about it look at that pitch
that's not a good o2 pitch
in fact i'd say it was a bad o2 pitch
and so with this guy who's very excited
meredith's excited he's going crazy
grace
grice what's that guy's name he's
excited brewer
he's excited he got hit in the face and
it was all force up
in the end getting hit in the face and
it not being worthwhile that would suck

what do they got everyone's got a little
torch that they get and then we go to
the top of the ninth they bring in their
dude he gets one out he gets
two outs on the strikeout love that one
more out to go and where was that pitch
that's what this guy wants to know come
on blue
it was right there 2-0
he's got to fight back 2-1 two
and that's that's the curve ball
the other dude was trying to throw
that's a nice two strike i mean that was
a sharp break not a little looper
and he's out and gilbert seals the deal
and clemson comes back
now they're one game below 500 but this
was a little bit ago so maybe they're
