Bumgarner throws a 7 inning no-hitter, a breakdown
What Happened
In a surprising turn of events, veteran pitcher Madison Bumgarner of the Arizona Diamondbacks throws a dominant 7-inning no-hitter against the Atlanta Braves in the first game of a doubleheader. Bumgarner, who has struggled mightily this season, puts together one of the best performances of his illustrious career. The game starts with Bumgarner, known for his unorthodox pitching motion, taking the mound and quickly setting down the Braves in order in the top of the first inning. In the bottom half, the Diamondbacks are unable to generate any offense against Braves starter Bryse Wilson. The pivotal moment comes in the top of the second inning when Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson reaches base on an error by Diamondbacks infielder Nick Ahmed. However, Bumgarner quickly erases the baserunner, inducing a timely double play to end the threat. From that point on, Bumgarner is masterful, mixing his fastball, curveball and cutter to keep the Braves hitters off balance. He consistently works ahead in the count, finding himself with two strikes on 51 of the 21 batters he faces. Bumgarner's command is on full display as he efficiently navigates through the Braves lineup. As the game progresses, the tension builds and Bumgarner's teammates begin to rally around him. "They didn't go overboard, but they celebrated," notes the analyst, as the Diamondbacks dugout erupts in excitement after each out recorded. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Bumgarner takes the mound, needing just three more outs to complete the historic feat. He forgoes his curveball and relies solely on his fastball and cutter, pounding the strike zone and retiring the side in order. After the final out, Bumgarner is elated, but characteristically understated in his postgame interview. "I just want to say two things: I want to thank the shadows in Atlanta, they helped me out a good bit and I want to thank Rob Manfred for making these seven-inning games," he says, bypassing any questions from the media. This performance by Madison Bumgarner is a testament to his resilience and experience. Despite his struggles this season, he has shown that he can still dominate on the mound when he's at his best. The Diamondbacks and their fans will undoubtedly cherish this momentous occasion, as Bumgarner solidifies his legacy as one of the game's most clutch and accomplished pitchers.

risk
baby all right mad bum kind of whips it
i love his arm
angle just really just comes across and
whips it this was the coolest stat that
i
found from all of his pitches he got
himself into 51
two strike counts so he threw 51 two
strike pitches
17 fastballs 17 curveballs
17 cutters way to mix it up mad bum
mixed it up as perfect as you possibly
could you might be asking yourself
why is it a no-hitter who got on base
well in the second inning alby's hit
that one to short and ahmed just kind of
yanked it
first baseman gets pulled off the bag
for the e6 here it is it's
routine ground ball and just kind of i
don't know could he have stayed on the
bag well anyway it doesn't matter
because mad bum gets the very next
batter darno
to hit a ground ball induces the double
play so he did face the minimum
amount of batters every single inning
was just three batters came to the plate
and here he is in the bottom of the
seventh not the ninth because it's a
double header
and he he completely ditched
the curveball here he just went cutter
fastball for the entire seventh inning
and figured i'll just pepper the zone
doesn't get that call
wanted it comes back up high with the
fastball
and then gets the outside with the
cutter acuna
doesn't like it mad bum likes it now
freddie freeman's up he misses and he
just attacks him like look at that pitch
kind of juicy
kind of juicy and then he gets the
pop-up here nice play
by the shortstop who made the error
earlier says i better not
mess up again i already cost him the
fake
seven inning perfect game or whatever
we're calling this
bottom seven of zuna goes swinging at
the first pitch and he lines that one in
the right and i was very curious like
what's this celebration obviously mad
bum oh my god we got baby shaking in the
front row obviously mad mom's not gonna
go crazy
but his teammates kind of like come in
and they go light and then they start
like
really messing with them i think they
handled it incredibly well they didn't
go overboard
but they celebrated if he pitched two
more innings would he have got the
no-hitter
no idea i think they said like 80
pitchers in the last 10 years have taken
a no-hitter into the seventh but only 18
have finished it so it's really hard he
knows that
he gave a fantastic a fantastic
post game interview that you guys all
need to hear
and hear this i just wanna i wanna i
wanna say two things that i'm gonna go
celebrate with the guys
i wanna thank the shadows in atlanta
they helped me out a good bit that's
pretty awesome and i want to thank rob
manfred
for making these seven inning games all
right there he goes
didn't let them ask a single question
just cut him off and said here it is i'm
thinking the shadows they helped me out
and rob manfred for making the seven in
games which
rob manfred i mean that's really nice
for him to get thanked like that really
nice for mad bum there probably the
