Benches clear in Game 7 of the World Series, a breakdown
What Happened
In this Jomboy baseball breakdown video, the benches cleared during Game 7 of the World Series after an inside pitch to Gimenez. The incident started because Gimenez was intentionally trying to get hit by pitches, a tactic he had used throughout the season. The video highlights how Gimenez would take his padded hand off the bat and stick it out to get hit, which the opposing pitcher Rodon had previously complained about. The video suggests that this tactic should not be considered a hit-by-pitch and that a rule change could be necessary to address this issue.

The dugouts cleared in game seven of the World Series. Never thought we'd see that. And it started with that inside pitch right here to Gimenez. This breakdown is brought to you by DraftKings. And we've got exclusive new angles that no one has ever seen before. Strike. So up and in. Down and away. One and one. Next pitch, slider off of that downway fast. Now up and in again. And he's like, "Ah, maybe we checked that. Might have hit me. I definitely tried to get hit by it." Schneider says, "Okay, let's pause. Let's check it." Now, Gimenez straight up throws his padded hand at that ball. He takes his right hand, which has a pad on it, off the bat, and tries to get hit by it. It's part of his game. I did a video like a week before this happened, where Carlos Rodon was complaining about just this. TIME RIGHT HERE, third base. >> Rodon doesn't care if it hit him or he didn't hit him. He just thinks he's throwing his hands into the zone. He says, "Hey, he keeps putting his hands out there, Jordan." Yeah, he keeps putting his hands out there. He did that all year this season. He's going like that and putting his [ __ ] hands out there. And it's true, Gimenez gets hit a lot. It's part of his game. He was he's like on a path I think to lead the league and hit by pitches. And a lot of times it's up and in pitches that he just starts his swing or throws his hands at and it barely clips him and he's got the glove on his elbow and his hands. So pretty protective there if he wants to dangle pretty protective there...
