A.J. Pollock homers after complaining about a call, a breakdown
What Happened
A.J. Pollock of the Los Angeles Dodgers steps up to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning, with his team trailing by one run. The Dodgers' reliever, right-hander Tyler Rogers, is on the mound for the San Francisco Giants, delivering a curveball away to Pollock. Pollock takes the pitch and the count goes to 3-0. Rogers then throws a fastball down the middle, but Pollock is unhappy with the call and believes the pitch should have been ball four, allowing him to walk. Pollock expresses his displeasure with the umpire, arguing that the pitch was too high. However, the umpire stands by the strike call and the count remains 3-2. On the next pitch, Rogers goes back to his off-speed offering and Pollock unleashes a powerful swing, sending the ball over the fence for a go-ahead three-run home run. Pollock's teammates, including outfielder Cody Bellinger, celebrate the go-ahead blast, with Bellinger throwing up "gang signs" in Pollock's direction as he rounds the bases. The Giants' catcher, Joey Bart, is visibly stunned by the turn of events, unable to believe that Pollock was able to drive the ball out of the park after his earlier disagreement with the umpire. Pollock and the Dodgers' dugout exchange high-fives and congratulations, savoring the moment as they have taken the lead in the game. The home run by Pollock, who finished the game 2-for-4 with the three-run shot, proved to be the deciding factor, as the Dodgers went on to win the game. This come-from-behind victory, fueled by Pollock's clutch hit after his dispute with the umpire, showcases the resilience and determination of the Dodgers' lineup.
