Aaron Boone tells ump he has the biggest strike zone in MLB, a breakdown
What Happened
In a heated exchange during a New York Yankees game, manager Aaron Boone confronts home plate umpire Lance Barrett over his expansive strike zone. The action unfolds in the bottom of the second inning, with the Yankees trailing by an unknown margin. Aaron Judge, the Yankees' star outfielder, steps up to the plate, only to have a low pitch called a strike by Barrett. Boone, observing from the dugout, immediately expresses his frustration, telling Barrett that he has "the biggest strike zone in MLB." The next batter, Yankees infielder Anthony Volpe, also has a low pitch called a strike, further angering Boone. As the inning continues, Boone becomes increasingly agitated, believing Barrett is making questionable calls. He approaches the umpire and engages in a heated discussion, adamantly telling Barrett, "I'm just telling you right now, no more out of stock. Then fix it. They're balls." Barrett responds with a stern look, and Boone continues to voice his disapproval. The situation escalates in the next at-bat, as Barrett calls another low pitch a strike, which Boone deems "the most egregious of the bunch." Boone then confronts Barrett, saying, "Do you think that's a strike? Honestly, do you think it's a strike?" Barrett ejects Boone from the game, prompting the Yankees manager to unleash a passionate tirade. Boone stands his ground, telling Barrett, "If I'm wrong, I come out and I say it. I wave my hand." Barrett appears to defend his calls, but Boone remains steadfast, exclaiming, "That pitch is not even fucking close." The exchange concludes with Boone sarcastically handing over the game to Barrett, saying, "Here you go. You take over now. You're the boss. Have fun." This heated confrontation between Boone and Barrett highlights the ongoing tensions between managers and umpires in the MLB. Boone's ejection marks the seventh time he has been thrown out of a game this season, underscoring his passion for defending his players and holding umpires accountable for their decisions.

Click timestamps to jump to that momentThis breakdown is brought to you by DraftKings and that pitch was called a strike but is probably
low. Lance Barrett, the umpire behind the plate, has the biggest strike zone of all umpires. That
was the scouting report before the game started. Judge is like, I don't know about that. Next
inning, bottom of the second, Volpe gets that one called on him and he's like, that clipped the
bottom? Umpire's like, yep. Booney's like, jeez, Lance, come on, man. Only the second inning. I'm
already getting so frustrated. Second inning, next batter, that one's called a strike. That's
probably not a strike. Called a strike and now frustration's starting to boil over.
Got some stories. Yeah, I was thinking that.
And Lance. Just saying you should fix it. I'm just telling you right now,
no more out of stock. Then fix it. They're balls.
Little mean stare from Lance as he makes his way back to the plate. Throws the mask on. Booney's
not excited. Doesn't think he got his message across. Oh, shit. First pitch. That one is maybe
the most egregious of the bunch. I mean, that's just a real low pitch and called for a strike.
Booney says something. Lance says, this time Lance Barrett did very good. Aaron, get out of here.
Throws him out. Now Boone gets to walk out, have his peace, and we get some hot mics.
I love it. Do you think that's a strike? Honestly, do you think it's a strike? You just called it a
strike, but do you think it's a strike? And Booney, I love this. He goes, just so you fucking know.
And he's just looking at him. He says, okay.
And Lance is going to give him this little nod like, yep. Okay. Gotcha. Kind of like when I
talked to my toddler and say, okay, did you hear me? And he just goes, okay, dad. And you're like,
I don't think you really listened to me. Do you think that was a strike? Honestly,
do you think that was a strike? The one you just called? Booney wants answers. Now he's getting
an answer. And judging from the next sentence, I think Lance is probably saying, well, if I'm
wrong, I don't know. You want me to admit that I'm wrong? I'm not going to admit that or something
like that. Because Boone says, well, if I'm wrong, I come out and I say it. Yeah. I wave
my hand. And Lance is like, no, you do not do that. Booney's like, that's a ball right there.
It's a ball. It's fucking down. I promise you it's down. He's having a hell of a night so far.
I know you've got the biggest zone in the league. You must know it too. I'm fucking telling you
that pitch is fucking down. That pitch is not even fucking close. And Lance says, okay. All right.
Good talk.
And see you later. And Boone says, yep. Got everything I wanted to say off my chest. And
he gets ejected. Says, here you go. You take over now. You're the boss. Have fun. And that's
the end of this one. The seventh time Boone's been ejected this year. Thank you very much
