Three balks lead to a run, a breakdown

What Happened

In the bottom of the ninth inning, the New York Mets trail the Miami Marlins by one run. Pete Alonso, the Mets' powerful first baseman, steps up to the plate against Marlins pitcher Dick Blyer. On the first pitch, Blyer commits a balk, allowing Mets baserunner Jeff McNeil to advance from first to second base. Umpire Tom Paine calls the balk, and Mets manager Don Mattingly emerges from the dugout to argue the call. Blyer takes the mound again, but immediately commits another balk, moving McNeil to third base. Mattingly is furious, storming out of the dugout to confront Paine and the other umpire. "What the fuck are you doing?" Mattingly yells. "He's been doing that move all year, every fucking game. Don't give me that shit." The umpires stand their ground, and Blyer is called for a third consecutive balk, allowing McNeil to score the tying run. With the count now 3-0 to Alonso, Blyer finally delivers a pitch, which Alonso takes for ball four. The Mets now have the go-ahead run on base, and Mattingly continues his heated argument with the umpires, defending his pitcher and questioning the legitimacy of the balk calls. "This is fucking set," Mattingly shouts, gesturing emphatically. "How is that not set?" As the Mets celebrate the run scored on the three consecutive balks, Blyer walks off the mound, perplexed by the umpires' decisions. Mattingly takes a slow walk back to the Mets' dugout, his team now tied with the Marlins in the late innings. The game hangs in the balance, with the Mets hoping to capitalize on the bizarre sequence of events and secure a crucial victory in their push for the playoffs.

me a ball and then Madeline's gonna come

it's it's important to note Mattingly is

not returning next year to the Marlins

and also they're not going to the

postseason so none of this matters for

the Marlins at all but Mattingly's still

out there giving it to him what the [ __ ]
