What Happened

In a highly-anticipated ALCS matchup, tensions boil over between the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Adolis Garcia of the Rangers hits a towering home run and enthusiastically celebrates as he rounds the bases. Astros catcher Martin Maldonado takes issue with Garcia's antics, leading to a heated exchange between the two players. The situation escalates in the following inning, as Rangers hitter Adolis Garcia is hit by a pitch from Astros pitcher José Abreu. Garcia immediately confronts Maldonado, pushing him and wagging his finger. The dugouts and bullpens empty as both teams' players and coaches rush to the scene. In the melee, Abreu's glove gets knocked to the ground, nearly tripping up the umpires. Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez plays the peacemaker, grabbing Garcia and walking him away from the confrontation. After order is restored, the umpires eject Abreu from the game, much to the dismay of Astros manager Dusty Baker. Baker argues vehemently with the umpires, declaring "That's fucking bullshit!" as he is also ejected from the contest. The Rangers capitalize on the disruption, taking a 4-2 lead in the 9th inning. But the Astros mount a comeback, as José Abreu makes a daring play to turn a double play and reliever Héctor Neris strikes out the side to escape the jam. In a dramatic finish, the Astros rally in the top of the 9th, as José Altuve delivers the game-tying hit against Rangers closer Jonathan Leclerc. Maldonado celebrates the comeback, mocking the Rangers for "firing us up" only to then have to pitch to Altuve. The intense showdown between these bitter division rivals has set the stage for an epic ALCS clash with high stakes and plenty of bad blood.
